IM West closed for full use Friday, April 24, marking the end of an era for the longtime campus recreation facility, which first opened in 1958. At this point, the building will be closed to students and members, except for the pool, which will remain open.
Those accessing the pool after May 3 will need to enter through the rear (south) side of the building. The pool is expected to remain in use until the completion of the new aquatic facility at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, anticipated in late 2026 or early 2027. Classrooms hosting final exams will also remain accessible during the closure.
To accommodate students during finals week (April 27–30), the Student Recreation and Wellness Center will offer extended hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
