RHS Sustainability, along with other divisional and university partners, achieved a 93.4 percent waste diversion rate at this year’s Sparticipation, an event that introduces the student body to registered student organizations in an effort to increase on-campus involvement.

With more than 12,000 attendees at the event, a 93.4 percent diversion rate includes 4,960 lbs. of mixed recyclables, 580 lbs. of organic or compostable materials, 2,808 lbs. of food waste and more all diverted from landfills. For each attendee, .94 lbs. of recyclable material was recovered, and only .07 lbs. of trash was created.

RHS Sustainability has recognized MSU Recycling and Surplus Office for its valued partnership in helping the division strive to be waste-free.
