Much demolition has occurred already, and now the rebuilding has begun (photo above). Work is currently being done on the roof, as well as on drywall in some areas. Some of the Housing staff expect to be moving to the building in the fall of this year (photo below).
Spartan Village School
After more than forty years as an elementary school, East Lansing Public Schools decided to allow Spartan Village School to revert back to Michigan State University in 2003. There has been an ongoing need for a community center in Spartan Village, and a survey of University Apartment residents supported the renovation of Spartan Village School for this purpose. The building houses a postal service station, a fitness center, study/meeting rooms, and offices for University Housing Administration, University Apartments, Residence Life and a community police office.
