Once a few more furniture pieces are delivered, the Interior Design office renovations will be officially complete. Anyone interested in seeing the renovated space is welcome to stop by anytime for a tour!
Interior Design Services
With the Akers Hall Housing & Operations Offices relocation from the second floor to the first floor complete, the Interior Design Office reconfigured its space to utilize the entire second floor administrative wing.
The space was transformed into Studio 250, allowing the office to serve as a showcase for design techniques for campus facilities. This expansion allows the Interior Design Office to meet the needs to better serve campus clients and interact with our student designers.
Interior Design provides design services not only for Residential and Hospitality Services, but all of the MSU buildings located both on the MSU main campus, and the off-site locations such as Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton, Mich. and the MSU Extension offices located throughout the state. During the 2007-08 academic year, the staff worked on 480 design projects.

Construction is nearly complete in the newly renovated Interior Design offices. Recently completed areas include a collaborative space for working on small projects, new artwork lighting and a workstation for the office wing receptionist. Throughout the office various different styles of furniture and lighting are showcased.

Construction on the new Interior Design offices is halfway completed. Different types of flooring have been used throughout the office, made possible by donations from Amitco, Interface, J & J, Milliken, Shaw and Mannington. LEED certified ceiling lighting has also been installed, which can be alternate between colors or be set to remain constant. The back part of the office, which includes a kitchen, storage for the product resource library, a project manager’s office space, and student and full time designer work stations, has been finished, and crews recently began work on the front part of the office.

The office areas in the Interior Design offices have now been completely gutted. Last week crews put down carpeting and began painting the walls.

Staff from the Akers Hall Housing & Operations Offices have cleared out and the space that they once occupied is being gutted to make way for the new Studio 250. The Interior Design staff is in the process of shuffling their work spaces to accommodate construction, and are busy boxing up their many samples, swatches and supplies.
