Hubbard Hall - East Neighborhood

Hubbard Hall

Hubbard Hall is being renovated to welcome the First Year Experience Program in May 2010. In fall 2010, Hubbard Hall will launch the Neighborhood Concept which will centralize on-campus services for students within the residence hall.

The renovation plans include a new culinary venue in the current Sparty’s convenience store area and other upgrades throughout the entire building. The first floor will become an engagement space for student activity, replicating the look and feel of Holden Hall’s recent renovations.

Hubbard’s new north lounge will be segmented into four main student areas: study, dining, lounging and gaming. It will also include a secluded meeting room, a convenient feature for those working on group projects. Hubbard’s new south lounge will have a large quiet study area, as well as two group meeting rooms. Both north and south lobby areas will have a renovated reception area and recycling and mail sorting stations.

All student corridors will be repainted and will have replaced flooring to give the entire building an updated look. The facility will reopen in fall 2010.

Construction at Hubbard is 100 percent complete and the Engagement Center is getting serious traffic now that classes have begun.

The gaming area still awaits one television but beyond that, all furniture, signage, flooring, lighting and artwork are in place across the first floor of Hubbard, including the student-made art display in the quiet study area. Also completed is the recycling area for ¬all to use.

Hubbard Hall also now features the all-new Sparty's Cafe, with convenience items, specialty coffee and cooked-to-order grill items.

Hubbard Hall renovations are reaching near completion with every passing hour. All furnishings throughout the Engagement Center and hall itself have arrived and most televisions have been installed and mounted. Vending and recycling rooms at both the north and south ends are in working use just in time for student move-in. Private study rooms and offices are also ready and equipped with motion sensor lighting as a way to save energy. The all-new Sparty’s in Hubbard is fully stocked and has already been open for business more than once.

As one moves along toward South Hubbard they will run into the quiet study lounge and Olin Health Service Center. The study lounge awaits previously commissioned student artwork and a few minor tweaks before it is completely ready for lounging. Its neighbor, Olin, is nearly done with the examining room merely awaiting a bed, and the waiting area and office furniture in place.

Windows have been placed around all study rooms and at the Olin Health Center. The quiet study area’s counters have been completed and have fresh paint. Finally, all lighting throughout Hubbard has been switched to T-8 wattage bulbs, a more energy-efficient lighting solution.
