Three gaming computers are up and running in the Holmes Sparty’s and they are proving to be very popular with Sparty’s customers!
Holmes Hall Sparty's C-Store
Renovations for the Holmes Sparty’s turned the old into four separate spaces combined to deliver an incredible retail experience with high tech-high touch gathering spaces for students, faculty and staff. The renovation includes a retail sales space with new lighting fixtures and architectural finishes, a theater with two flat panel televisions, DVD players with controls at each seat, a central gathering space with a fireplace, computer gaming stations, and a seminar room with a smart board and seating for 15. The space is air conditioned and the project incorporated many sustainable features, including bamboo flooring, occupancy sensors, LED lighting and recycling.

The Holmes Hall Sparty’s is complete! Stop by and enjoy the seating around the fireplace, the convenience shopping, and relax in the theater-style seating and watch your favorite show on one of the 3 flat screen TVs. What a great place to study or have fun with your friends!

With opening just around the corner, Sparty’s is very close to completion. Shelves have been stocked with bags and bags of snacks, and the coffee bar is set up and ready to serve. A variety of lime green, black and white patterned furniture has been moved into the space – everything from easy chairs and end tables, to high-chair bar seating and functional study-friendly tables and chairs.

Large free-standing refrigerators and a counter-extension refrigerator have been installed. The green walls have a funky MSU/Lyman Briggs-inspired mural painted on top in black, red and orange.

Detailed tile work has been installed around the Sparty’s fireplace, and in west corner of the space, large black easy chairs sit on tiered risers with headset outlets in what will be the Sparty’s “movie-viewing” area. There is still some construction equipment in the back corner of the space, but the floor is almost completely clear.

Small, unique and colorful hanging light fixtures have been installed throughout the space, as well as a new fireplace. An enclosed room on the east side of the space has several large whiteboards hanging on the wall and a grid-like ceiling.

The space designated for the renovated Holmes’ Sparty’s is really shaping up with newly installed black counters, textured partition walls and even a raised seating space.

Crews have painted the interior walls and partitions of the new Sparty’s bright green, mustard yellow and rusty red. Ceiling light fixtures are in working order and new black doorframes have been installed. Refrigerators and other equipment have also started to arrive.

Crews are currently painting the interior walls and partitions of the new Sparty’s white, and ceiling pipes and fixtures black. Workers are also installing hanging, ceiling light fixtures throughout the space.

Workers have completed the drywall installation for the various sanctioned areas of the new Sparty’s. Crews are currently erecting curved ceiling ‘clouds,’ like those found in Holden Hall.

Workers continue to install drywall and caulking to create curved ceiling pieces. Work on the flooring of the space, and continued electrical and utility work is also being done to ready the new Sparty’s for a fall opening.

Workers are currently laying insulation within the metal wall frames, are installing drywall and caulking. Crews continue to install utility framework, including cables, wires and piping. Some of the ceiling piping now has a brown covering and other wall and ceiling structures continue to be built.

Workers are making a great deal of progress installing metal frames across the ceiling and forming new walls within the space. Utility framework, including electrical outlets and ceiling hooks for various wires and cables are being installed and light fixtures are also appearing.
Workers continue to install metal frames for wall re-shaping. Different areas of the new Sparty’s space are being sanctioned off by metal frames and insulation is being installed. Work is also being done to ceiling utility pipes and fixtures.

The Holmes Hall Sparty’s project is in full swing. Workers are in the process of installing metal frames for new space-reshaping walls, which will be insulated, covered in drywall and finished.

It’s out with the old and in with the new as the former Holmes C-Store continues to be demolished to make way for the re-programmed space, including a new Sparty’s Coffeehouse.
The flooring of the former Holmes C-Store has been torn up and crews are continuing work on the transforming space.

Currently, all furniture and kitchen materials have been removed from the space. Ceiling tiles and flooring was removed ready for the next phase.
